Why the U. S. Needs Texas

This is a very interesting topic and has been a topic for some decades. Now governor, Rick Perry, stood his grounds on the government of the United States and the states rights at one of the three anti tax Tea Parties he attended in Texas. His speech repeated his feelings as governor about the government over taxing its citizens and if it continues in that realm, Texas just may secede, being no longer a part of the union. Even though that is supposedly an option still today for Texas, Governor Perry does not predict that they will. Economically, Texas is doing better than other states.

There seems to be a controversy as one in five independent Texans are not in favor of their home state breaking away from the union. The outcome is that one-third of Texans are wrong considering their state should secede. One statement reportedly made by Texas State Library and Archives Commission states that a joint resolution for the annexation of Texas into the union involved the states right to keep its public land and public debt. If so desired, Texas could divide its land into four additional states of appropriate size and submit all military, postal, and customs facilities authority over to the government of the United States. This joint agreement did not "okay" for the Lone Star state to secede.

Secondly, back during the civil war a lot of lives were lost over this. The right to secession was not approved then no more than it is present now for Texas.

In conclusion, the big state in the south has some big contributions accessible to the whole United States. The oil supply down there is an undeniable major resource for the rest of the states to take advantage of.
