Astroworld

There is no more visiting Astroworld in Texas. It has been closed down since 2005. At one time, Astroworld in Texas was the place to be. It encompassed over 57 acres of rides and attractions and entertained families locally and from all over the country. It had over twelve major rides, including Batman: The Escape, Mayan Mindbender and the Texas Cyclone, just to name a few. Others were later removed, including the Excalibur and the Texas Tornado. The Serial Thriller replaced Excaliber, and although the ride was supposed to be reassembled at Frontier City in Oklahoma City, but that was never done.

There is still a lot of information on Astroworld in Texas. Some of the employees even created a website dedicated to this long running theme park. They are sad and often angry about the park's closing, and they encourage anyone with photos of their visit to post them on the site. Some sites are dedicated to saving this park, in the hopes of getting it reopened. Many local people are quite saddened that it is closed, and it seems that there is little effort to reopen this Houston icon.

There are many reasons why this amusement park closed down. One of the main causes was money. The costs of maintaining the park, fixing or bringing in new rides, and payroll were higher than their revenue. Some of their revenue losses were attributed to season pass prices. For what it cost to be admitted twice, you could buy a season pass and get in whenever you wanted. Because this was so cheap, it also caused other problems. Many actually wonder if this marks the beginning of a decline in theme park revenues across the board.
